PROFILE

I am an artist, biologist and natural historian with a specialist interest in drawing trees. Working outdoors in charcoal and chalk, I draw in situ, aiming to capture the feeling of being present in the landscape. I use my background in academia and education to promote greater awareness, appreciation and understanding of the natural world through drawing projects, collaborations and teaching.

Freelance artist specialising in drawings trees. Regular exhibitions, sales & commissions.

Ongoing drawing projects: historic and significant trees in Oxford’s meadows, parks, woods and colleges; the floodplain at Port Meadow; Beech Trees – diversity of shape and form, inspired by work at Wittenham Clumps & the Chilterns and by the writing of Richard Mabey.

Tree/natural history drawing tutor. Workshops, classes & projects with school, university,

museum and adult groups. Speaker and lecturer at academic, community and educational

events.

2025-6. Lead Artist, Dorchester Festival. Design, development and installation of a

collaborative artwork with community groups and artists. Drawing at Wittenham Clumps.

2024-5. Artist in residence, Headington Rye Oxford. Drawing, mapping and researching

significant and historic trees on two school sites. Exhibition and educational workshops.
