My name is Olivia Pang (夏域), and I am honoured to apply to join the Arborealists, a community that resonates deeply with me, as I have always loved observing trees and appreciating their unique qualities.
To me, trees are living beings constantly defying gravity, reaching for the sky. They display their distinctive beauty through the changing seasons, embracing sunlight and warmth while enduring storms—just as I, driven by curiosity, strive to grow and embrace life’s uncertainties.
My work is rooted in the meticulous GongBi painting technique, a tradition spanning over 2,000 years. However, my observations come from my own eyes, and my aesthetics from my heart. In this sense, my contemporary works inevitably carry traces of ancient Eastern genes.
Should I be elected to join the Arborealists, it would be a privilege to join other artists in celebrating the remarkable nature of trees through our shared artistic expression.
