Rebecca Styles  CV

My art practice stems from a deep reverence for the natural world.I have always had a kin ship with nature and as a landscape painter I seek to question that deep connection and create wild spaces that invite others to stand alone in quiet introspection.

In 2024 I spent a year long residency at Thorp Perrow Arboretum in North Yorkshire, documenting the shifts and cycles of the100 acre parkland throughout the seasons. This experience honoured me a first deep dive into a much loved subject. Painting trees and communing with the arboretum and forest habitat has now become an important part of my practice.

Becoming an associate member of the Arborealist group would bring a great deal of incentive to keep exploring the subject deeper. I am passionate about learning and love that the groups exhibitions are often based on collective research and trips to an area of interest.

I am currently studying sylvotherapy, the scientific study of the healing power of trees, the principles of which I hope to capture in my work. This may be something the group may find of interest should I be a successful candidate. I would be very happy to participate in the groups exhibitions and make new contacts with shared interests.I hope my work can offer a unique and individual style of painting a much beloved subject.
