Sean O’Grady CV
As a painter I'm inspired by the beauty of our landscape - it is what makes me want to paint.
To me, trees are a fundamental and integral part of that landscape; they define the English countryside. Trees act as markers, signalling changes in the seasons that we all recognise.
Aesthetically pleasing to view and vitally important to our survival and the eco systems that depends on them, trees are, and should be, of national importance to us all.
To me, The Aborealist's fascination with trees as a subject is helping to highlight this. Through their work (art) The Aborealists remind us of not only the trees' beauty but why they are even more important now than ever before, with global warming on the rise. Trees act as filters and capture harmful carbon. I think we, as artists, have a wonderful opportunity to convey this message.
I would like to join the group to add my voice to help promote this message. Also to have the opportunity to connect with like-minded artists. As we all know being an artist can be a a very lonely and isolating occupation. I bring a commitment to traditional oil painting techniques but with a contemporary style. My preferred working method is through direct observational drawing and painting. I'm particularly interested in how light affects aspects of the landscape.
I hope my work will complement the group and, on a personal level, give a stronger purpose and focus to my work.
