Stewart Taylor -  CV

Through my Tree Portraits series, I explore individual specimens as sites of structure, history, and environmental memory. Beginning in 2020 with simple gelliprint observations of London’s street trees, the work has since evolved into layered monoprint, drawing, and sculpted surface. I aim to balance close observation with a material depth, while contributing to the ongoing development of contemporary, experimental print practice.

I have exhibited widely in the UK and internationally, including multiple presentations at Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, Wells Art Contemporary, and the RA Summer Exhibition. Works are held in collections including the V&A Museum Print Collection and Jyväskylä Art Museum, Finland. At the most recent edition of Woolwich Contemporary Print Fair, I was selected as one of “The Ones to Watch.”

Alongside exhibition activity, my practice engages directly with environmental advocacy. Recent projects have raised over £4,000 for the Woodland Trust and Rewilding Britain, and most recently over £1,000 for Moor Trees through a dedicated series of 50 monoprints celebrating our temperate rainforests.

As an Associate Member, I would bring an established, research-led print practice, institutional exhibition experience, and a sustained commitment to positioning arboreal art within contemporary ecological discourse.
