Biophilia
Bath Royal United Hospital
15 July - 15 November 2025
Exhibition in conjunction with Dorset Visual Arts - 30 works by The Arborealists.
Biophilia, n. : A love or empathy with the natural world, especially when seen as a human instinct
A partnership between The Arborealists, Dorset Visual Arts and Bath Royal United Hospital presents a new exhibition at Bath RUH featuring 60 works which relate to the theme Biophilia, with a particular focus on trees, woodland, hedgerows and commons.
30 works from Dorset artists feature alongside 30 works from members of The Arborealists. Featured works address ecological concerns and notions of wellbeing, accompanied by short statements explaining what nature and wellbeing means to each artist in their practice.
Wellbeing and biophilia are important to all of us but particularly in a hospital setting where many are unable to get outside. By visually representing biophilia, or ‘bringing the outside in’, we can help support the wellbeing of patients.
An initial version of this exhibition showed at Dorset County Hospital from 15 April - 14 July 2025 before travelling to Bath, with works selected by Tim Craven, president of The Arborealists, and Suzy Rushbrook, Curator, Arts in Hospital, Dorset County Hospital.
